Bio

Rogers J. Laugand III, known as Coach Rogers, has 30 years of coaching experience at the junior high, high school, and AAU levels (boys and girls). He is the Head Coach of the Rising Stars of Clarion AAU Basketball Program. Coach Rogers began Rising Stars Basketball Camps for kids in kindergarten through 9th grade. Today he directs Rising Stars Basketball Camps and Clinics for boys and girls from 5th grade through high school. In addition, he has been hired to run basketball camps for high school programs. His vision of starting an AAU basketball program came to fruition when he and coaches Joseph Deas and Angelo Anderson met at a local restaurant to discuss the details and on September 9, 2006, the Rising Stars AAU Basketball Club was born. His teams have competed in tournaments across the country. In 2009, his Rising Stars 17U team won the NAYS National Championship in Chicago, Illinois. He has coached several Rising Stars teams that have qualified for the AAU National tournaments in Orlando, FL, and Hampton, VA. In addition, his teams have played in national and NCAA certified tournaments in Cleveland, OH; Las Vegas, NV; Louisville, KY; Charlotte, NC; and State College, PA. He has coached at the boys Adidas Jr. National Basketball Camp (San Diego, CA) and several Keystone State Camp Shootouts.

 

Many of his players have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Over the years, he has proven to be a great coach and mentor to numerous young people who have come through the Rising Stars program. His passion and love for the game are shown through the way he motivates his players. He takes extraordinary pride in the growth and development of his players. Coach Rogers teaches basketball with passion and a love for the game like no other. His knowledge and understanding of the game came from his days playing at St. Augustine High School, where he earned the team's Defensive Player of The Year award during his senior year. Coach Rogers' hard work, passion, and dedication paid off, earning him an opportunity to play at the next level for the University of Dubuque in Iowa. He played on a team that captured two Iowa Conference Championships and made the NCAA Division III tournament.
